FAQs

When is this all taking place?

The timeframe for events is November 4, 2020 through Janurary 20, 2021. We encourage participants to prioritize the health of everyone involved in your event by following safety and social distancing guidelines recommended by the CDC.

What if I want to participate but don’t want to be near other humans?

We understand. Maybe you are prioritizing your health because of coronavirus concerns. Maybe you are a super introvert. Whatever the reason may be, if you want to limit your contact with others, consider hosting or attending a fully virtual flag making and sharing event.

I want to participate but have no idea how to make a flag, so what should I do?

Check out ideas on how to make a flag here.

I want to participate if there is an event near me in my city – how can I find out where events are being planned?

Email us at myhopeourhope@gmail.com and we’ll connect you with local events if they are happening in your city.

What if I want to host an event but don’t have art/flag making supplies?
Remember to start with what you have and go from there. You can also ask attendees to bring their own supplies.

There are a limited number of microgrants available to support event organizers with art/flag supplies. You can apply here.

I don’t have any materials whatsoever, but still want to participate. What if I want to share my hopes but want to express it in a non-flag way?
You can still participate! Create an image, video, or audio recording with your hopes for what comes next in this country and post it on your social media with the hashtag #MyHopeOurHope2020 and #UnstoppableVoters.

The most important thing is to take time to reflect on what our hopes are for your community, and this country, and then to share these out – whether that is online, or even printing out your digital creation and hanging/flying/posting it up.
